What I’m about….
Founder & Principal
Wyn Osborne
Throughout my career, I have been guided by two core ambitions. The first is to help create workplaces that are truly inspirational—places that foster high-trust, high-energy, and creative teams, where personal growth and development are encouraged. If you’ve been fortunate enough to be part of such an environment, you’ll understand the impact it has on both individuals and the wider community.
The second ambition is to uphold the highest standards of personal integrity and transparency. At times, this has required perseverance and resilience, and not every situation unfolds perfectly. However, there is no substitute for honesty and humanity in leadership.
I am currently working with the Hei o Wharekaho Settlement Trust alongside Mātua Joe Davis, leading economic development initiatives and marine environmental management projects. My work includes;
combating the spread of exotic Caulerpa at Ahuahu and Repanga;
supporting the Pou Rāhui research project focused on the regeneration of taonga species; and,
exploring sustainable aquaculture opportunities.
As Hei o Wharekaho navigates the Treaty settlement process, we are driving the transformational change required to strengthen the iwi’s economic, environmental, and cultural resilience for future generations.
I am also guiding new and emerging enterprises by implementing Advisory Boards to strengthen strategic direction and informed decision-making in the pursuit of sustainable growth. Advisory Boards bring together experienced professionals with diverse expertise, offering valuable insights, mentorship, and industry connections. This model prioritises impact and drives innovation, enabling enterprises to more effectively navigate challenges and capitalise on new opportunities.
Previously, I had the honour of leading the MUMA Group, a diverse range of social and business enterprises. Under my leadership, the senior management team added significant financial, social, and human capital value. We established Waatea School, a State Integrated School, and a $1.25 million purpose-built Early Childhood Centre (Waatea ECC). Additionally, we led MUMA’s Covid-19 community response, setting up a logistics centre that distributed hundreds of tonnes of food to more than 100,000 whānau through the Taumata Korero collective of Auckland-based Māori providers.
Over the years, I have led and navigated numerous governance and management challenges, launched innovative initiatives, and provided strategic guidance to enterprises under duress. I believe that success in business is ultimately about managing and empowering people—more than any other single factor.
